So, Im constantly on there, answering peoples questions, thanking people for their continuous support, answering messages when I can. Today 3 years ago, Kelsi German wrote, was my last real day with my best friend and I wish I wouldve done it differently. I miss you. On Thursday, the plan was to finish morning classes at Purdue a school she transferred to after a freshman year at Ball State, so she could invest in a blossoming interest in forensic sciences then head home to Delphi to help with a food drive and then retreat into family time for next few days. We all need that. After that, she said, shell get back to telling the story about what happened after that last real day with her best friend. Early afternoon on Feb. Kelsi German dropped off Libby and her sisters friend, Abby Williams, near the Monon High Bridge trail, where the Delphi Community Middle School eighth-graders planned to spend part of a Monday off school hanging out and hiking. A day later, a community search party found their bodies in the woods near Deer Creek, about a half-mile from the abandoned railroad trestle that gave the community trail its name. Outside a handful of clues sketches of a potential suspect; a video clip taken from Libby Germans cell phone of a man walking across the Monon High Bridge; audio, also from Libbys phone, of a man saying, Guys down the hill; and a few other bits and pieces an investigative team that once included dozens of federal, state and local detectives working full-time on the case has been careful about what they say about their progress. Indiana State Police officials say they continue to get tips in a homicide investigation they insist is not a cold case. Theyve released no substantial updates in the case since April 2019. On Wednesday, Kelsi German talked about her sister, about Abby Williams and how shes dealing with what she calls a new normal of trying just about every day to keep the Delphi case a fresh memory. What do you remember about that Feb. Kelsi German: Well, (Feb. I remember waking up that day and not really having any plans, and me and my boyfriend and his sister and her boyfriend at the time all decided to go out and have a fun night. And Abby and Libby wanted to go, but I said no, because I was the cool older sister that just wanted to hang out by herself. Q: Nobody wants an eighth-grader around, right German: Exactly. On The Delphi Murders Movie Night AtBut a little later on, we came home and we ended up having a movie night at the house, and Abby and Libby hung out with us there. We had pizza and garlic knots and just enjoyed a little night at home together. DELPHI CASE: Is Abby and Libbys killer one of Delphis own ISP says, yes Q: Do you remember what you watched German: We watched a really dumb, scary movie. Q: So, what would you have done differently Taken them along German: Yeah, I think I would have spent a little more time with them. Then, just maybe Id have asked my grandma if we couldve taken her car, so we could have fit two more people, because I could have hung out with her. Now looking back on it, you just think, what if I wouldve got one more day I would have wanted to spend that day with her if I got the chance now. Q: Your social media feed (libertygsister on Twitter) has really grown since you started it in 2018 to keep up with the case. Whats a typical week for you feeding that and tracking it German: That is really crazy. ![]() But now, I have so many people in there that have gone through what Ive gone through and have more experience in advocating than I do. So, its like learning the things that I need to do to keep the case out there from people that have been doing it for a lot longer than me. And then Im meeting so many people that just care and support our cause and our girls all the time.
